Carried Sound is a trade name of My Earth Within LLC, a Kansas limited liability company based in Overland Park, Kansas.

This policy explains what information Carried Sound collects when you visit carriedsound.com, contact us, book a session or join our email list, and how that information is used. Questions go to joann@carriedsound.com.
Who we are
Carried Sound offers sound baths, yoga nidra and breathwork in the Kansas City metro area. Sessions are led by Joann Schermerhorn.
Carried Sound is a wellness practice, not a medical or mental health provider. We do not bill insurance, and we do not create or keep medical records. Because of this, Carried Sound is not a "covered entity" under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and HIPAA does not apply to the information described here. We still treat anything you share with us about your health or wellbeing with care, as described below.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Inquiry and booking forms. When you submit a form on this site, we collect what you enter. That can include your name, email address, phone number, preferred dates, number of guests, event or company details, and how you heard about us.
- Notes you choose to share. Some forms ask if there is anything you'd like Joann to know before your session. Please share only what you are comfortable sharing and what's useful for planning your session. You never need to share medical history to book.
- Email and phone. If you email, call or text us, we receive your contact details and whatever you include in your message.
- Newsletter signup. If you subscribe, we collect your email address and, if provided, your first name.
Information collected automatically
When you visit carriedsound.com, our website platform and analytics tools collect standard technical information: browser type, device type, pages visited, the site that referred you, approximate location (city or region), and the date and time of your visit. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies. See Cookies below.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect Social Security numbers, insurance information or medical records. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
How we use your information

- Schedule, confirm and prepare for your session or event
- Send the email newsletter, if you subscribed
- Understand how people find and use this website, so we can improve it
- Keep records required for business, tax and legal purposes
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Services that help us run Carried Sound
We use a small number of third-party services to operate the business. Each one handles your information under its own privacy policy.

When you book or pay through Vagaro or Stripe, your payment details go directly to that provider. Carried Sound never sees or stores your full card number.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a client or the public.
Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser stores when you visit a website. This site uses:
- Necessary cookies, which keep the website working
- Analytics cookies, which tell us how visitors use the site in aggregate
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't sell or share your data for advertising. You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics on every site with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
If you join our email list, you'll receive session updates, upcoming events and occasional writing. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time. We don't add people to the list without their signup. Booking a session does not subscribe you to the newsletter.
How long we keep information
- Inquiries and booking details: kept as long as needed to serve you, then for up to 3 years for business records
- Notes you shared before a session: kept only as long as they're useful for your sessions. Ask us anytime to delete them.
- Newsletter subscribers: kept until you unsubscribe
- Financial records: kept as long as tax law requires
How we protect your information
We use reputable platforms with their own security safeguards, limit access to your information to Joann, and protect accounts with strong passwords and two-factor authentication where available. No website or email system is completely secure, so please don't send sensitive health details by email or web form unless they're needed for your session.
Your choices
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what information we have about you
- Correct information that's wrong
- Delete your information, unless we're required to keep it for legal or tax records
- Stop sending you email
Email joann@carriedsound.com with your request. We'll respond within 30 days.
Children
This website and our services are intended for adults. Minors may attend sessions only with a parent or guardian's consent. We don't knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version on this page and update the effective date above.
