Carried Sound / Sessions

Sound bath sessions.
Four ways to be carried.

Whether you show up Wednesday night with $25 and a tired nervous system, or you're planning something more personal — there's a way in. No experience required. No spiritual vocabulary necessary. Just the willingness to lie down and receive.

01 · Open Sessions

The weekly sound bath in Overland Park
that changes your Wednesday.

$25
Every Wednesday
5:30–6:30pm
Very Well KC, Overland Park

The most valuable thing you'll do for yourself all week — and the most accessible way to experience CARRIED SOUND.

Show up as you are. Grab a mat, a blanket, a bolster. Lie down. For the next hour, let sixty minutes of live sound do what an hour of trying to meditate can't. The bowls find what you can't reach yourself. The sound waves move through you. The koshi chimes are the reason people come back.

Open Sessions are drop-in by design. No series to commit to, no long-term program, no prerequisite. Come once and see what happens. Come every week and watch what builds.

02 · Just Yours

A private sound bath
shaped around you.

From $175
By appointment
Very Well KC or your location

When you want the full experience held just for you — or for you and someone you love.

A private session isn't a group session with fewer people. It's something entirely different. Joann begins by listening before she plays. What does your body need today? Where is the holding? What happened this week? The session is shaped by that conversation — then deepened by the sound.

Bring a partner, a best friend, your mother, your daughter. Book it for a birthday, a milestone, a hard month, a health journey, or simply because you know you deserve this level of care. It's not a luxury. It's maintenance for the parts of you that don't have a waiting room.

"I went in thinking it would be like the group sessions. It wasn't. Something in the room was completely different when it was just for me. I came out changed in a way I'm still trying to find words for."

Your team is tired. Not the kind of tired that a team lunch fixes.

The kind that accumulates across quarters and shows up as short fuses, flat creativity, and the low-grade feeling that nothing is quite enough. A ping-pong table doesn't reach that. Neither does a catered meeting.

One sound bath session resets something that can't be reached through a slide deck. Joann brings the full instrument collection to your space — no special setup required, just floor space and the willingness to let your team lie down for an hour.

What's included
  • Full instrument set — Joann brings everything
  • Pre-session consultation to customize the experience
  • 60–75 minute live sound session
  • Optional breathwork opener or yoga nidra weave

  • Annual retreats and offsites

04 · Carried Away

For the gathering that deserves
more than a playlist.

Inquiry only
All sizes welcome
KC metro and beyond

There are moments that need to be held. That need to open something, mark something, close something. A playlist can fill a room. Sound — live, intentional, played by someone who knows how to hold a container — does something entirely different.

Joann creates custom sound experiences for gatherings of all kinds — intimate or expansive, celebratory or contemplative. She brings the same reverence to a backyard gathering of twelve as she does to a full retreat of sixty.

Ceremony
Weddings & Commitments

Sound to open a ceremony, mark a vow, or close the evening. Creates an atmosphere no DJ or playlist can replicate — because it's live, responsive, and completely present.

Retreat
Retreats & Immersions

The closing ritual that actually closes something. The opening that drops the room in before words are even spoken. Available as a featured session or woven throughout a multi-day program.

Gathering
Private Events & Celebrations

Birthday milestones. Bachelorette experiences. Dinner parties that become memories. Wellness pop-ups. If you can feel that something needs to be marked — reach out.

Questions

Everything you were wondering but didn't ask.

Do I need experience with meditation or yoga?
Not at all. You don't need to know how to meditate, do yoga, or have any background in wellness. You just need to be able to lie down and receive. Sound baths work whether or not your mind cooperates — the frequencies do the work, not your willpower.
What should I bring to an Open Session?
Mats, bolsters, and blankets are provided at Very Well KC. Wear comfortable, loose clothing. Bring a water bottle. Silence your phone before you arrive — and ideally before you even pull into the parking lot.
How is a sound bath different from a meditation class?
In a meditation class, you're actively trying to quiet your mind — which still requires effort. In a sound bath, you're passive. You lie down and receive. The instruments create frequencies your nervous system responds to directly, without requiring mental effort. Many people who struggle with traditional meditation find sound baths profoundly effective for exactly this reason.
Is sound healing religious or spiritual?
CARRIED SOUND sessions are not religious and don't require any spiritual framework. Sound healing works through physics and physiology — resonance, frequency, and the nervous system's response to sound. You can engage spiritually if that's meaningful to you, or simply as a deeply effective wellness practice. Both are completely welcome in the room.
What actually happens during a sound bath?
You lie down on a mat with a blanket and pillow. Joann opens with a brief grounding or breathing practice, then moves into sound. For the next 45–55 minutes she plays live — crystal bowls, gong, chimes, wave drum, tongue drum — moving through the room, layering instruments, responding to the energy of the space. You may drift somewhere between waking and sleep, feel emotions move through, or simply rest deeply. There's no wrong way to receive.
Do you travel outside Overland Park?
Yes. Joann brings the full instrument collection to your location anywhere in the Kansas City metro area, and travels for destination retreats and multi-day events. Travel fees may apply for locations outside the KC metro. Reach out to discuss your specific event.
Is sound healing safe during pregnancy or with health conditions?
Please reach out before booking if you are pregnant or have specific health concerns. Joann is happy to talk through your situation personally and ensure the session is appropriate and safe for you.
How far in advance should I book?
For Open Sessions, 2–3 days ahead is recommended as space is limited. For private sessions, 1–2 weeks ahead is ideal. Corporate events and retreats book out 4–6 weeks, especially during fall and spring. If you have a specific date in mind, reach out as soon as you can.
